01 The agreement
These terms apply between IceFishingCL ("we", "us"), a licensed fly fishing outfitter registered in Chile, and the person who makes a booking ("you", "the lead traveller"). The lead traveller books on behalf of everyone in the group, confirms they are authorised to do so, and is responsible for passing these terms to them and for all payments due.
A contract comes into existence when we issue a written booking confirmation and the deposit reaches our account — not when an enquiry is sent, and not when a quotation is issued.
02 Booking and confirmation
- Enquiries are free and place you under no obligation. Quotations are held for 14 days unless we state otherwise.
- Dates are held provisionally for up to 7 days while you decide. After that the week returns to general availability.
- The booking confirmation sets out the region, lodge, dates, guide ratio, number of fishing days and the exact price. If anything in it is wrong, tell us within 48 hours.
- Passenger names must match passports exactly. Corrections made later may carry airline or charter fees, which are passed on at cost.
03 Prices and payment
| Stage | Due |
|---|---|
| Deposit | 30% of the trip price, at booking |
| Balance | 90 days before arrival |
| Bookings inside 90 days | 100% at booking |
| Full lodge buyouts | 50% deposit, balance 120 days before arrival |
Prices are quoted in US dollars per angler and are guaranteed once the deposit is received, except where a government changes taxes, park fees or fuel duties — in which case we pass on the difference at cost and you may cancel without penalty if it exceeds 8% of the trip price.
We accept bank transfer and major credit cards. Bank charges and card processing fees are payable by you. If the balance is not received by the due date we will chase once; a booking unpaid 14 days after the due date may be cancelled and the deposit retained.

05 Cancellation and refunds
If you cancel
Cancellations take effect on the day we receive them in writing at trips@icefishingcl.pro.
| Notice before arrival | Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 120 days | Deposit retained; the rest refunded |
| 120 – 90 days | 50% of the trip price |
| 89 – 60 days | 75% of the trip price |
| Fewer than 60 days, or no-show | 100% of the trip price |
Where we are able to resell the cancelled space we will refund what we recover, less an administration fee of USD 250 per angler. Unused fishing days, early departures and days lost to your own late arrival are not refundable. This is why comprehensive cancellation insurance is a condition of booking.
Transferring a booking
You may transfer a booking to another angler up to 30 days before arrival at no charge beyond any supplier fees. A booking may be moved to another date once, more than 120 days before arrival, subject to availability and any difference in season price.
06 Changes by us
Patagonia is weather country. Rivers blow out, wind closes lakes, roads and airstrips shut. We may change the water fished, the running order of days, the boats used or — rarely — the lodge, in order to keep you fishing and safe. Where a change is minor, no compensation is due. If we must make a significant change before departure (a different region, or fewer fishing days) you may accept it, take an alternative trip of equal value, or cancel for a full refund.
07 Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory and a condition of travelling with us. Your policy must cover trip cancellation and curtailment, medical treatment and repatriation, and — because our water is remote — emergency evacuation including helicopter rescue. We ask for the insurer's name and policy number before departure and may refuse boarding to anyone who cannot produce it. We are not an insurance intermediary and do not advise on policies.
08 Fitness, safety and conduct
- Fishing days involve wading on uneven riverbed, boat travel and walking on rough ground, often far from medical help. You confirm that everyone in your group is fit to take part and has told us about any medical condition, medication or allergy that might matter in an emergency.
- The guide has final authority on the water. Their instructions on wading, boat handling, weather and safety equipment must be followed, and buoyancy aids worn when asked.
- We may end a trip without refund in cases of behaviour that endangers others, damage to property, or intoxication on the water.
- Minors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
09 Licences and fishing rules
A valid Chilean licence is issued in your name and included in the price. Chilean regulations, the closed season and local rules on gear apply at all times. Our own house rules are stricter than the law and are not negotiable:
- Catch and release on all trout and salmon, with barbless single hooks.
- Fish are kept in the water, handled with wet hands or a rubber net, and photographed quickly.
- Biosecurity — waders, boots and nets are inspected and disinfected before the first day, to protect these rivers from didymo and other invasive species. Felt soles are not permitted.
- Drone use is allowed only with the guide's agreement and never over private estancia land or national parks without a permit.
10 Liability
We accept responsibility for the services we provide directly, and for the reasonable care and skill of our own guides and staff. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the price you paid for the trip. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost or damaged personal equipment, or for the acts of independent suppliers — airlines, charter operators, lodges and transfer companies — where you contract with them directly. Fly fishing in remote wilderness carries risks that cannot be removed; by booking you accept those risks knowingly.
11 Force majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including volcanic activity and ashfall, earthquake, flood, wildfire, extreme weather, epidemic or pandemic, border closure, government order, strike, war or civil unrest. In such cases we will refund whatever we can recover from suppliers and offer a credit for the balance, valid for 24 months.
12 Photography and media
Guides photograph most days and the images are yours to keep. We may also use photographs and video taken during your trip in our own marketing. If you would prefer that we do not, tell us at any time and we will remove and stop using them. Content on this website — text, photography, layout and code — belongs to IceFishingCL and may not be reproduced without written permission.
13 Website use
The information on this site is offered in good faith and describes a typical season; it is not a guarantee of catch rates, weather or river conditions. We may update prices, dates and itineraries at any time before a booking is confirmed. Automated scraping, framing and republication of this site are not permitted. Personal data submitted through the enquiry form is handled as set out in the privacy policy.
14 Complaints and governing law
If something is wrong during the trip, tell the guide or lodge manager at once — nearly everything can be fixed on the spot. If it cannot, write to trips@icefishingcl.pro within 28 days of returning and we will reply within 14 days.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile, and the courts of Coyhaique, Región de Aysén, have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or the UK, nothing here removes the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country, or your right to bring proceedings there.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Together with your booking confirmation, these terms are the whole agreement between us.
